The GP2 Asia Series was the next progression for the series, and so in 2008 the highly regarded GP2 fraternity followed suit as Formula One has broadened their horizons across Asia and the Middle East.

Exporting the GP2 concept to emerging motorsport nations of the world, offers young Asian drivers a chance to showcase their talent; Providing an opportunity to compete at a high level of single seater racing, against drivers from all over the globe, whilst receiving international recognition and attention.

The series utilises the first generation of GP2 cars, a familiar machine to the thirteen participating teams. While following the same race format as the European equivalent, with strong ties with F1, the GP2 Asia Series has quickly become a popular and exciting racing category.
