> ABOUT THE AUTO GP SERIES

Auto GP is the newest and one of the richest racing series in European history which will see drivers competing in the revolutionary new championship.

By pushing their talent to the maximum and beating their rivals on track, teams and their drivers can battle for a share of an unprecedented 1,200,000 Euro prize fund. This simple idea of racing for prize money is long established in American racing, and is now set to become a reality in Europe. This staggering prize is combined with a low cost formula that will give drivers a unique chance of success, whilst showcasing their talent and ultimate will to win.

Points System

Qualifying rewards the pole position winner with one point and sets the grid for race one. The top eight finishers score points (10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1) The grid for race two is determined by the finishing order of the first race, with the top eight positions reversed (as in GP2) The top six finishers score points (6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1) and an extra point in each race is rewarded for fastest lap.

Auto GP will boast a Lola B05/52 chassis, powered by a 3.4 litre V8 engine with 550 bhp of maximum power. Impressive figures which, based on performance, launch this new series right on the tail of GP2 and ahead of anything else racing in Europe. With just 18 seats available, competition is going to be fierce...

Race Format

Day One:

  • Two x testing sessions
  • One x 30 minute qualifying session

Day Two:

  • Race 1: 40-45 minutes or 90km (Mandatory pit stop)
  • Race 2: 30-35 minutes or 70km

Each race weekend has a prize fund 200,000 Euros, shared between the top six drivers in the classification. This will be calculated by totalling the points scored by each driver in the weekend’s two races.
