Christian Bakkerud

Christian is one of the brightest young talents in Danish motorsport today. Having started with rental karts at the age of 10, Christian quickly moved up through the karting ranks. At only 15 years old, Christian was included in the Danish Federations (DASU) elite-project that acts as a talent –scouting platform for Danish motor sport license holders and was part of the scheme for two years. During this period, Christian successfully raced in Formula A and Formula Super A, the two premier karting Championships in the world.

In 2002 Christian switched to cars and finished runner up in the German Formula BMW Championship’s "Rookie" category. The 2003 season was affected by the fact that many of the races interfered with Christian's final school exams and an injury so a full season could not be undertaken. In 2004, Christian made the switch from the German to the British Formula BMW Championship in order to get to know the circuits before graduating to the British F3 Championship. With several podium finishes he caught the eye of the Carlin Motorsport Championship winning Formula 3 team and now with two years front running and race winning experience in British F3, Christian has graduated to the GP2 series and is one step below his ultimate goal – Formula 1.
