Monza Race 2

Super Nova celebrated with two well-deserved top ten finishes today, and a 2nd podium for Luca Filippi at his home race!

Another thrilling & eventful race this morning, both the teams drivers posting some of the quickest sectors times of the day. Luca & Mike got held up in traffic at the start, however their powerful GP2 cars saw them past several competitors to gain valuable positions. Luca who began in 7th, stormed through to finish 2nd, making it twice in one weekend! Team mate Mike completed the 21 laps driving with diligence & skill to finish 11 places up from his P21 grid position, in 10th.

The team regains 3rd place in the team championship, along with equal 3rd for Luca Filippi in the driver Championship.

Team Principal David Sears “What a fantastic race here today at Monza, with lots of action, but luckily not so many accidents. Luca drove a brilliant race, although being delayed at the start. He managed to come through to finish a close second to race winner and championship leader Timo Glock. In fact Luca had flatted spotted one of his tyres, and he believes if he had not, then he would have easily won the race today. Mike Conway also drove a blinding race, to finish a delighted 10 place, lapping very quickly all the way through the race.
The team are hoping that Mikes knowledge of Spa, where he won in Formula 3 will help him to qualify better, & finish the season on a high note. The remaining two race weekends will be crucial for the final championship positions.”

Mike Conway “I was kind of cautious to start, not wanting a repeat performance of yesterday, so just stayed in position, then after that I made up a couple of places. It was at Parabolica, Zaugg spun in front of me, and whilst narrowly missing him I spun too. However we seemed to have a quicker car and I found it easy to catch them up & move onto the next ones! Which was good! We have Spa next week, which is a mega circuit. I’ve won there before, so I’m really looking forward to it.”

Luca Filippi “I am so happy to have scored two podiums here, in front of thousands of Italian fans. Its makes it more special for me, but it is a shame that there was no Italian anthem today! Anyway we showed great potential today, the car was fantastic! We definitely had the strongest pace today. Now I am looking ahead to the next race in Spa. ”
